Error code:

VA_400_EB000U0422

I've recently purchased replacement cartridge's for my printer however the device doesn't seem to recognise it.

Deskjet 2810e Orange light next to colour ink - above the X button.   Both black and colour are 305XL

I've tried taking plug/wire out and waiting 30 seconds. I have also taken out cartridges and used cloth to clean points inside etc. Up until 2 days ago it was working fine so I'm at a loss really. The window will not display ink levels anymore either.

Appreciate any help.

Hi @Wonderton,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code VA_400_EB000U0422 on your HP DeskJet 2810e typically indicates an issue with the ink cartridges not being recognized. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem.

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure the replacement cartridges (305XL) are compatible and not counterfeit.
  • Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the cartridges and reinsert them firmly. Ensure they click into place.
  • Clean Contacts: Gently clean the metal contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth.
  • Reset Printer: Unplug the printer, wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • Update Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date via the HP Smart app or HP's website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
