Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hi, I have had my printer for many years, but it has, in the main, worked well.

For months now,  I often get a message that the printer is not currently available, and it never does print the document on those occasions. I also get notifications that printing was unsuccessful. However, there are times when a document does print so I am baffled. I also try going to HP Smart, but this isn't always successful either.

I mainly use my mobile for documents attached to emails, so this situation is really frustrating. I can't print anything from my old laptop, so may have to delete and reinstall the printer on there, but my first priority is to get this printing issue resolved on my mobile. Any thoughts or ideas welcome.

I understand your HP Deskjet 3630 is frequently showing “not available” and failing to print from your mobile, even though it works intermittently. Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot this.

Check printer and mobile are on the same Wi‑Fi network
Ensure your phone and printer are connected to the same Wi‑Fi network (2.4 GHz recommended).
Different networks or guest networks can cause intermittent connectivity.

Restart your printer, router, and phone
Turn off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds.
Restart your router and your mobile device, then power the printer back on.

Use HP Smart app to reconnect
Open HP Smart and check the printer’s status.
If it shows offline, remove the printer from the app and add it again using the app’s Wireless Setup Wizard.

Check printer firmware
Outdated firmware can cause intermittent connectivity issues.
If you can connect temporarily, use HP Smart or HP Support Assistant to update firmware.

Reset printer network settings
Press and hold the Wireless button + Cancel button on the printer for 3–5 seconds.
This clears old network info and allows you to reconnect afresh.

Check Wi‑Fi signal strength
Ensure the printer is within good range of the router and there are minimal obstructions.
Weak or intermittent signals often cause “printer not available” errors.

Disable mobile firewall or VPN
If your mobile has a VPN or strict firewall/security app active, it may block the printer connection.
Temporarily disable these while testing printing.

Alternative printing method
If HP Smart fails, try sending print jobs via AirPrint (iOS) or Mopria/Google Cloud Print (Android).
This sometimes bypasses HP Smart connectivity issues.
