Hi @casolutions,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 3762 printer is showing as permanently offline with the blue light flashing, there are several steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

  1. Check Connection:

    • Make sure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. Ensure that the USB cable or network connection is secure.
    • If you are using a wireless connection, check if the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  2. Restart the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes reset the connection and resolve offline issues.
  3. Restart Your Computer:

    • Sometimes, the issue may be with your computer. Restart it and see if the printer comes back online.
  4. Check Printer Status:

    • On your computer, go to the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" section.
    • Right-click on your HP Deskjet 3762 and check if it's set as the default printer. Also, make sure there are no print jobs stuck in the print queue.
  5. Reinstall the Printer Driver:

    • Uninstall the printer driver from your computer and reinstall it. You can download the latest driver from the official HP website.
  6. Check for Hardware Issues:

    • Ensure that there are no paper jams or other physical issues with the printer.
    • Check for any error messages or warnings on the printer's display.
  7. Update Firmware:

    • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
  8. Check Router Settings:

    • If you are using a wireless connection, ensure that your router is working properly. Restart the router and check the Wi-Fi settings.
  9. Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless or network settings and reset the network settings. Afterward, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

This appeared to be working.  I got as far as uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers, but it then requires me to enter a custom password, however I have no idea what htis password is.  It tends to suggest that this has been set as a one off, but if so, how am I to konw what it is?
