Hi @JimD26

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I truly understand how frustrating it feels when the printer seems caught in a loop and won’t let go of the old network. Thank you for already trying the reset procedure—that shows great persistence.

Let’s walk through a fresh set of steps together to help the printer clear its memory and connect smoothly to your new wireless network:

Power cycle the printer

  • Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord from the back.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
  • This ensures the printer fully discharges and starts clean.

Clear the wireless settings manually

  • On the printer’s control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel (X) button together for about 5 seconds.
  • The wireless light should blink, indicating the settings have been reset.

Reconnect using the HP App

  • On your Windows PC, open the HP App.
  • Select Set up a new printer.
  • Follow the guided steps—it will search for printers in setup mode.
  • When prompted, choose your new Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  • Wait until the wireless light on the printer turns solid blue, confirming the connection.

If the printer still insists it’s on the old network

  • Temporarily disable Wi-Fi on your PC, then reconnect it to the same network you want the printer to join.
  • Re-run the HP App setup so the printer and PC are aligned on the same network.
  • This often forces the printer to drop the previous profile.

Final check

  • Print a Network Configuration Page by pressing and holding the Information (i) button until the page prints.
  • Review the SSID listed—it should now show your new Wi-Fi network.
  • If it does, the setup loop is broken.

You’ve already shown patience by trying the reset, and with these steps the printer should finally settle into the new network.

Would you like me to also guide you through using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button method as an alternative, in case the app route doesn’t fully resolve it?
