Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

The Serial Number of the Printer (>Do not include the product serial number or any private information<) is not recognised by HP!

The model is HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer

The problem is that on trying to connect to a new router,

which has to have been replaced due to fibre optic cabling and having to support a LANDLINE Telephone,

despite putting the printer within 8ft. of the router and using both entry of router password and WPS button,

method the printer fails to connect to the WIFI after a fairly long attempt.

It's a pity that such a faithful printer of 11 years stumbles due to a ROUTER UPDATE!

Also - can I connect directly to my ACER Laptop via cable link?

Cheers

Hi @FredSmith_Ives

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you have recently changed your router and your HP printer won't connect, I would request you to please follow the steps:

Restart Devices

  • Power off your printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Turn on the router first, then the printer, then your computer.
  • This refreshes the network handshake between devices.

Update Printer Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, tap the Wireless icon.
  • Go to Settings → Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new Wi‑Fi network from the list.
  • Enter the Wi‑Fi password carefully.
  • Confirm connection — the wireless light should turn solid blue.

Reinstall Printer Software

  • On your computer, uninstall old HP printer software.
  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page. https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Search for your printer model (e.g., DeskJet, OfficeJet, LaserJet).
  • Download and install the latest drivers.
  • Follow prompts to add the printer to your system.

Router Configuration

  • Ensure your printer connects to the 2.4 GHz band (HP printers often don’t support 5 GHz).
  • If your router broadcasts separate SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, select the 2.4 GHz one.
  • Check firewall/security settings to ensure the printer is allowed to connect.
  • If WPA3 security is enabled, switch to WPA2 — many printers don’t support WPA3.

Use HP App

Reset Network Settings

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Setup → Restore Network Settings.
  • This clears old Wi‑Fi details.
  • Run the Wireless Setup Wizard again to connect fresh

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
