Hi @hutchtom,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have forgotten the password for your HP ENVY 5640 printer, you can reset it to its default settings. Here are the steps to reset the password.

  1. Turn on the printer and wait until it is idle.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 5 seconds.
  3. The printer will print out a page with the network settings.
  4. Look for the line that says "Password," and make a note of the value next to it.
  5. Use the password to log in to the printer's web interface.

If the above steps do not work, you can try a factory reset, which will reset all the printer settings to their default values, including the password. Here are the steps to perform a factory reset.

  1. Turn on the printer and wait until it is idle.
  2. Press the Home button on the printer's control panel.
  3. Swipe up or down to scroll to "Setup," and then tap "Setup."
  4. Swipe up or down to scroll to "Tools," and then tap "Tools."
  5. Swipe up or down to scroll to "Restore Factory Defaults," and then tap "Restore Factory Defaults."
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the reset.

Note that performing a factory reset will erase all the custom settings on your printer, including your wireless network settings. You will need to set up the printer again from scratch after the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
