My wireless Envy Photo 6255 All-in-one-printer has suddenly started failing to print. Sometimes I see an error message indicating an empty paper tray, but the message is incorrect as it has no trouble printing out test/demo pages. I had temporary sessions of successful printing after removing all power from the printer AND my computer, and then rebooting. This no longer works. I have not personally made any changes in software or drivers, and the problem continues with every computer in my network. The ENVY control panel correctly identifies my Wi-Fi network, as well as every other recognizable network in my community, and indicates that it is successfully connected to it. I realize that this is an old problem that was posted with regard to Windows 7, but I cannot access the proposed solutions and results.

Hi @Jethorough,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried some troubleshooting steps, but let's go through a few more to see if we can resolve the issue.
- Check Paper Tray: Even if you're sure the paper tray is not empty, try removing the paper and reinserting it. Sometimes the paper might not be loaded properly or could be stuck, causing the printer to think it's empty.
- Printer Drivers: Although you haven't made any changes to the drivers, it's possible that a recent automatic update might have caused compatibility issues. Try reinstalling the printer drivers. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website specifically for your printer model.
- Network Connectivity: Even though the printer indicates it's connected to your Wi-Fi network, there could still be connectivity issues. Try restarting your router and reconnecting the printer to the network.
- Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Sometimes firewall or antivirus software can block the communication between your computer and the printer. Temporarily disable this software and see if it makes any difference.
- Reset Printer: Most printers have a reset option in their settings menu. Try resetting the printer to its default settings and then reconfigure it to connect to your network.
- Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes updating the firmware can resolve various issues.
- Printer Hardware: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with the printer itself.
Try these steps one by one and see if any of them resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks to Alden 4 for the thoughtful plan for fixing my ENVY PHOTO 6255. Shortly after I posted, I found that an update to the HP Print and Scan Doctor allowed it to magically fix my printer, so it's working now.
I'll save your recipe for this device. I'm sure I'll need it in the future!
