Help needed please. My HP Envy 4500 printer is showing as offline, I have tried turning the printer off, rebooting the router and I still can't get it to 'Online'  so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi @BlueHaze,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP ENVY 4500 shows offline. Try these steps:

Check the connection:

  • If using USB, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.

  • If using wireless, confirm the printer is still connected to your Wi‑Fi network. The ENVY 4500 supports 2.4 GHz wireless only. User Guide

Make sure the printer is not paused or set offline

  • Open Devices and Printers / Printers & Scanners on your computer.

  • Open the printer queue for the HP ENVY 4500.

  • Make sure Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline are not selected. User Guide

Set the ENVY 4500 as the default printer:

  • In your printer list, confirm the correct HP ENVY 4500 is set as the default printer. User Guide

Clear the print queue:

  • Open the printer queue and cancel any stuck print jobs.

  • Then try printing again. User Guide

Restart the print spooler/computer:

  • Restart the Print Spooler service on Windows, then restart the computer if needed. User Guide

Reset the printer power:

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.

  • Wait at least 15 seconds, reconnect power, and turn the printer back on. User Guide.

If wireless is still failing:

  • On the printer, open Wireless Settings and rerun the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect it to Wi‑Fi. User Guide

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
