I have an HP Envy 4500 printer which does not connect to my Wi-Fi. I have tried everything and nothing works. How could be wrong?

Did the Connections Options and still does not work. What's their support e-mail?

Thank You

Hi @IT-Enterprises,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!

I’m sorry to hear about the frustration you’re facing with your HP Envy 4500 not connecting to Wi-Fi. Let’s try a few steps together to get it working again.

  • Network Compatibility: Is your Wi-Fi network using a 2.4 GHz band? (The HP Envy 4500 only supports 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz.)
  • Error Messages: Are there any specific error messages displayed on the printer’s control panel during setup?
  • Wi-Fi Password: Have you recently changed your Wi-Fi password or router settings?

Let's try these steps.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off your printer, Wi-Fi router, and the device you’re using to set up the printer.
  • Turn them back on in this order: router, printer, and then the setup device. Wait until the printer is fully powered on before proceeding.

Recheck Wi-Fi Setup:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Wireless Settings and select Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Follow the steps to select your network and enter the Wi-Fi password carefully. Ensure no spaces or special characters are incorrectly entered.

Check Router Settings:

  • Ensure the router is broadcasting on the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Disable MAC address filtering or any network isolation settings on your router temporarily to check if they are blocking the printer connection.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only):

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support Website.
  • This tool can diagnose and fix connection issues automatically.

Reconnect via USB and Reconfigure Wi-Fi:

  • Temporarily connect the printer to your computer via USB.
  • Use the HP Smart app or HP Printer Assistant to reconfigure the wireless connection.
  • Once reconnected to Wi-Fi, you can disconnect the USB cable.

Did some investigation and found some Network information.

Findings:

  • Network Compatibility: Is your Wi-Fi network using a 2.4 GHz band? (The HP Envy 4500 only supports 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz.) The printer is on the 2.4 GHz connecting after looking more into it. Wi-Fi network using the 5 GHz band.
  • Error Messages: Are there any specific error messages displayed on the printer’s control panel during setup? No error messages displayed.
  • Wi-Fi Password: Have you recently changed your Wi-Fi password or router settings? No
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: Failed to communicate with your selected product.
  • Recheck Wi-Fi Setup: Did this.
  • Before all this, I also uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything. Still did not work! Will try the USB way
  • Thoughts?

Appreciate your Help!

Hi @IT-Enterprises ,

Thank you for performing the recommended steps, I see that it has not helped.

If your HP Envy 4500 printer is still not connecting despite troubleshooting steps, it’s crucial to focus on resolving potential communication issues between the printer and the network or your computer. Here’s a structured approach to address the problem:

1. Test USB Connection:

  • Temporarily connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Check if printing works via USB. If it does, this confirms the printer is functional and isolates the issue to the wireless network.

2. Reconfirm Network Configuration:

Ensure your printer is on the same 2.4 GHz network as your computer:

  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's control panel to confirm its connection.
    • Steps: Press the Wireless button > Go to Wireless Settings > Select Print Network Configuration Page.
  • Check if the SSID (network name) matches your Wi-Fi.

Verify IP Address Assignment:

  • Find the IP address of the printer from the test report or control panel.
  • Type the printer’s IP address into a web browser to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • If this fails, the printer is not properly connected to the network.

3. Static IP Address Setup:

Assigning a static IP can stabilize the connection:

  • Open the EWS (if accessible) > Navigate to Network Settings > Wireless (802.11) > Assign a static IP.
  • Use an address within your router's IP range, e.g., 192.168.1.200.
  • Update the printer settings in your computer:
    • On Windows: Go to Devices and Printers > Right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Ports > Add the new IP address.
    • On macOS: Delete the printer from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners and re-add it using the updated IP.

4. Troubleshoot HP Print and Scan Doctor Issue:

  • Run HP Print and Scan Doctor again, but:
    • Disable any firewall or antivirus temporarily.
    • Ensure the tool is running with administrative privileges.

5. Restart Network Components:

  1. Power off your printer, router, and computer.
  2. Restart your router and wait until it's fully operational.
  3. Turn on the printer and computer and retry connecting.

6. Firmware Updates:

  • Download and install the latest firmware for the HP Envy 4500:
    • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer.
    • Install firmware updates from the printer settings or via USB if network connectivity isn't working.

7. Factory Reset the Printer:

If all else fails, restore the printer to its factory settings and reconfigure:

  • Go to the Wireless Settings or Tools menu on the control panel.
  • Select Restore Network Defaults or Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Reattempt the wireless setup.

Hi @IT-Enterprises,

  • If the USB setup works but the wireless still fails, it could indicate an issue with the printer’s Wi-Fi module.
  • Alternatively, consider using a wired connection or a Wi-Fi extender with an Ethernet port to stabilize the connection.

If the issue persists, I recommend you contact phone support for further assistance.
