Hi There,
Any help appreciated, as this printer is currently next to useless for wifi printing.
Once installed - the printer shows as "Offline" both to the HP Smart App and to Windows directly, I have followed all the Diagnose information from HP for both the printer and for the HP Smart App multiple times - none it works. The printer is about 2 - 3 metres from the laptop (in the same room, on the same wifi network). The printer itself shows as online, and I can print to it via Apple and Android devices.
The only thing I can do to get it to work is to go to Windows Device Manager -> Devices and Printers -> Remove the printer, then add it via "Add a Printer" again as a "Direct-8D-HP ENVY 5000 series" device. The HP Smart App will not find the printer. Also the usual Windows 11 "Printers and Scanners" route does not work either, it will not find the printer. The problem is - once I have installed the printer via device manager, it works for about 5 minutes, then displays as "Offline" - if I want to print I go through the whole remove/add process again via Windows Device Manager.
I've also tried this via a Windows 10 laptop - the same issue occurs. Also - all the time that the printer displays as "Offline" to these Windows laptops.
I've had the printer for a few years, and this has been a common issue over the last year, it has come into more use now. I'm very close to scrapping it, being a WifI printer is it's sole purpose - and never buying HP again... so help appreciated !

Hi @Crippy,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the offline.
If you have performed all the steps from this document and still having issues, as a last resort, let's try a semi-full reset.
The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
