HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

My printer will not connect over Wi-Fi. It connects to the same Wi-Fi as my computer and shows up in the smart app but will say that it is offline when it is not. It appears as online but when I click on it I get the offline error message.

Hi @ JaysJibes,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Troubleshooting printer connectivity issues can be a bit complex, but here are some general steps you can try to resolve the problem with your HP ENVY 5055 All-In-One Printer not connecting over Wi-Fi:

  1. Check Wi-Fi Connection:
    • Make sure both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    • Ensure that there are no issues with your Wi-Fi connection, and the signal strength is sufficient.
  2. Restart Devices:
    • Power off both your printer and your computer.
    • Turn them back on after a minute and check if the issue persists.
  3. Update Printer Firmware:
    • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. Visit the HP support website and download any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  4. Check Printer Status:
    • On the printer's control panel, check for any error messages or indicators that may suggest a problem.
  5. Reinstall Printer Software:
    • Uninstall the printer software on your computer.
    • Reinstall the latest printer software from the official HP website. Ensure you download the correct software for your operating system.
  6. Set a Static IP Address:
    • Assign a static IP address to your printer. This can prevent issues caused by dynamic IP address changes.
    • Consult your printer's manual or HP support for guidance on setting a static IP address.
  7. Firewall/Antivirus Settings:
    • Check your computer's firewall and antivirus settings. Temporarily disable them to see if they are causing the connectivity issue.
  8. Reset Network Settings on Printer:
    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings.
    • Choose the option to reset network settings or restore factory defaults. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  9. Check Router Configuration:
    • Ensure that your router settings allow the printer to connect. Some routers have access controls that may block certain devices.
  10. Update Printer Drivers:
  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
