Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

Guys I've spent several hours on this now using all methods Smart App + using USB cable. What is now happening is I can connect my Computer to the Wi-Fi Hub and the system works but the printer message "PRINTER OFFLINE" appears . So when I then try connecting the printer to the WI-FI it says connected but the computer disconnects from the system.

Hi @Smudgie001,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the printer and computer are not ending up on the same Wi‑Fi network during setup.

Try this

Make sure both devices use the same Wi‑Fi network

  • Connect your computer to your home Wi‑Fi.

  • Connect the printer to that same network.

  • Wait a few minutes, then open the HP app and sign in if needed. HP says the app can take a few minutes to reconnect and update printer status.

Restore Wi‑Fi setup mode on the printer

  • HP recommends restoring Wi‑Fi setup mode if the printer is not found during setup, then adding it in the HP app within 2 hours.

Re-add the printer in the HP app

  • Open the HP app.

  • Click the plus sign to add a device.

  • Choose Set Up a New Printer or select the available printer if it appears.

  • Follow the prompts to complete setup.

If the printer still shows Offline

  • In the HP app, if the status still shows Not Connected, Offline, or Unavailable, HP advises that the HP printer is offline or not responding.

Important setup checks

  • Keep the printer and computer near the Wi‑Fi router during setup.

  • Turn on Wi‑Fi on the computer and temporarily disconnect Ethernet if used.

  • Turn on Bluetooth so the HP app can detect the printer.

  • If setup fails over Wi‑Fi, re-run setup after restoring Wi‑Fi setup mode.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
