HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Envy 6455e printer constantly goes offline (or is "not available").  This always happens after a few hours of being idle, but also can happen from one print job to another.  The only solution that seems to work for me is to unplug it and reboot the printer.  This is a bug in the printer and one should NOT have to constantly do this. I'm very disappointed with this printer.

See if you can disable sleep

. A quick fix is to set the sleep to off or never. Access the printers embedded web page and set sleep to off or never.

This printer operates at both 2.4 and the 5 ghz band.  If the printer is switching from one band to another it may be getting different IP addresses when it wakes up.  Log into the modem and change the name of one of the bands so when you configure the printer it will only use the 2.4 ghz band.

f the printer keeps changing it's IP address then a change to the modem is necessary. The printer needs to be assigned a fixed IP address that is reserved and does not change. This is necessary on flex networks (multiple wifi booster / repeaters)

Assigning a fixed or reserved I add4ress is done in the modem as part of DHCP configuration.
This is done in the modem as part of DHCP configuration.

First get a network report from the printer so you know its IP address or Mac address
Log into the modem and look for the DHCP server. Find the IP or Mac address of the printer and make it a fixed IP address.

If you have a flex system (WiFi boosters or repeaters) you will need to assign a fixed or reserved IP address to the printer.
