My HP Envy 6455 suddenly stopped working. I've tried everything under the sun including:
1) resetting printer, macbook pro settings, router and modem
2) shutting off printer for hours
3) reinstalling printer on HP Smart
4) I tried to manually download and install the driver but no drivers are available on the HP site. The only thing available was the Firmware Updater but went through the process only to get this: "This Firmware Updater does not contain upgrades for your device".
5) I tried to get help on the HP which then directed me to call. So I called and was told to go through the site.
6) Ink is genuine HP ink and same ink cartridges in the printer from before it stopped working.
I'm at my wits end. This printer is in new condition and already isn't working. If anyone has insights, I'd really appreciate the help!!

Wi-Fi reset instructions and videos (if any) are shown below. Generally you have 2 hours to connect your printer after performing the Wi-Fi reset. Note that a reset video may show a slightly different model than yours.
Watch this video to see how to reset your printer: 64xx using EWS. Microsoft's Copilot may have more recent videos. 64xx using HP Smart The steps below are Wi-Fi only and do not perform a factory reset. Microsoft's Copilot may provide alternate solutions.

Wi-Fi connection
Ideally, your Wi-Fi printer should connect to the modem or router. If your network has multiple boosters / repeaters, it is possible the printer may connect randomly to any of the units. The router needs to provide the same IP address on every connection. This rarely happens with random connects. An alternate Wi-Fi connection is Wi-Fi direct. Your laptop or smartphone prints directly to the printer and does not go through the router.
This video shows how to connect to the router: 6458 6455 6010 6020 6420e Wi-Fi Direct can be used to avoid configuring the router. Watch this: 64xx Wi-Fi Direct is explained on page 28 of the User Manual, this Wi-Fi setup avoids configuring the router. A simple connection to the router can be done by using the WPS pushbutton method. This is explained on page 28 in this User Manual. |
Software is installed from the Mac Store. if a problem installing then possibly MacOS is unable to remove the old driver then read this

Unfortunately, my report just says to visit hpsmart.com and confirms that it is connected to wifi and firmware is updated. I went to the site as directed and it says everything is green and “ready to print”. But when I print, the printer queue says “software missing”. I went to the HP site but there’s no driver available for my model.😭😭😭
