HP ENVY 5661 e-All-in-One Printer

HP Envy 5661 will not connect to my wifi for wireless printing. I have had this printer for 3 years and have never had an issue - worked just fine yesterday.

Wireless network test results state MAC address enabled and I must add to my printer.

I have tried unplugging, rebooting the printer, my computer, and my wifi router multiple times. Please help!!!!

I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!

Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only.

Hello, thanks for the response!

My wifi router is 5GHz. I am having trouble locating which GHz the printer is on. Where can I locate this and how do I change it? I am assuming this is the issue.

Hi @Cbenvy24,

Determine Your Printer’s Network Compatibility:

  • Most HP printers, including the HP Envy series, connect only to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz band. Some routers combine 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands into one SSID (network name), which can confuse devices that only support 2.4GHz.

Access Your Router Settings:

  • Log in to your router's admin interface. (Refer to your router’s manual for instructions; typically, you can access it by entering your router’s IP address into a browser, like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.)
  • Ensure the 2.4GHz network is enabled and has a distinct SSID (different from the 5GHz network).

Reconnect Your Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer's touchscreen or control panel, go to Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password when prompted.
  • If you see multiple networks with the same name, ensure you connect to the 2.4GHz option (you might need to temporarily disable the 5GHz band on your router to ensure the connection).

Verify Connection:

  • After connecting, print a Network Configuration Page from the printer's menu. This will show the printer's connection details, including the frequency.

Additional Tip:

  • If your router doesn’t allow separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs, consider setting up a guest network restricted to 2.4GHz and connecting your printer to that network.

If you are unable to change it, contact your internet service provider.

Keep me posted for further assistance
