HP Envy Photo 7975 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, My Printer just recently today attempted to print something automatically and the thing is I did not tell it to print at all it did this all on it's own for some reason.  So, Any ideas as to How to fix this issue possibly?  This has only happened only once thus far though. I have already checked for firmware update and there is none currently as of today as well.  Anyways, Have a great day ahead and stay safe and also My warranty has already expired as of Feb 28, 2026 I believe so I am out of luck for there anyways though!.  Thanks in advance for any help provided also..!!

There is something called "Automatic Mode" where  anyone nearby could print directly to your  printer.

The HP ENVY Photo 7975 printer does not use a static default PIN that lets anyone connect freely, but by default it may use an automatic connection method where devices within range can connect if Wi-Fi Direct is turned on. [1, 2]

How Wi-Fi Direct Works

  • Automatic Mode: If set to automatic, a device can connect without a manual prompt on the printer screen.
  • Manual Mode: Requires you to approve the connection directly on the printer touchscreen or enter a dynamic PIN. [2, 3]

How to Secure Your Printer

You can change the settings on your printer touchscreen to prevent unauthorized access: [3]

  • Go to Settings > Wireless Settings > Wi-Fi Direct.
  • Change the Connection Method from Automatic to Manual.
  • Alternatively, toggle Wi-Fi Direct Off if you do not use mobile printing directly. [1, 3]

Printers startup and run a calibration periodically.   Both my cm1415 laserjet and a smart tank 5001 make it seem they are trying to print something but it is just a calibration or a "park head" due to energy saving procedures.

Okay, I see then.  I canceled the last auto print job thinking maybe a possible hacker attack iminant or something but if it does do it again I will definitely see what it is attempting to print before I possibly cancel the print job??   Thanks for the info though.. Most helpful...!!!

Hey there, I thought that option was off originally but it wasn't so some hacker could have easily hacked through that and wa la persay that might have caused the problem originally..  Thanks for the help today. I really appreciate that very much..  Have a great day today and stay safe also as well..
