HP Envy printer. I can print from my phone but not from my desktop. Seems to have started after Windows 11 updates April 25th or so 2025. When I select "Print", I hear the print kick in, likes it's going to print but nothing. Job goes to queue and says printing or printed. nothing actually prints. Ran the scan Dr. restarted print spooler. removed and readded the printer. checked for driver updates. Went to HP web site and did software and driver updates. Checked windows update history for known problems.  I removed as many of the updates around that time that I could. then went back in and did all windows updates. Hoping that they would of put a fix in by now. At a loss.

@NancyDee, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Clear Printer Queue

Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.

Click your printer, then Open Queue.

Cancel all print jobs.

2. Restart Print Spooler

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Find Print Spooler, right-click it, and click Restart.

3. Reinstall Printer Driver

Uninstall the current printer driver in Device Manager.

Download the latest driver from the HP website.

Install it in Compatibility Mode (right-click the installer > Properties > Compatibility tab > select Windows 10).

4. Check Printer Port

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

Right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Ports tab.

Ensure the correct port is selected (USB or network).

5. Check Network Connection

If it’s a network printer, make sure it’s connected to the same network as your desktop.

6. Roll Back Windows Update (if the issue started after the update)

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Update History.

Click Uninstall Updates and remove the update from April 25, 2025.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I did an update to the print driver. I was able to print for a couple of days, then it went back t the same problem.

Sounds like the printer is kicking in but nothing prints. Unfortunately I cannot roll back the windows update.

@NancyDee, I see you were interacting with @Garp_senchau however, he's away for now and I'd love to help you out!

Thanks for the update, and I’m sorry to hear the issue has returned — I know how frustrating that can be.

Since the printer responds but doesn’t output anything, and you've already done quite a bit of troubleshooting, let’s try a couple more steps:

Print Using HP Smart App
Try printing a test page from the HP Smart app on your desktop. If that works, it may help us narrow down whether the issue is with Windows’ print system.

Switch Print Driver Type
Sometimes, changing the driver type helps:

Go to Devices and Printers, right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Advanced tab.

Click New Driver, and choose either HP Envy Class Driver or HP Universal Print Driver if available.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (again)
Even if you’ve run it before, try it once more after updating your drivers. It can sometimes detect new conflicts after changes.

If our solution hit the spot, please click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an incredible day ahead!
