Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use HP instant ink with no problems but today I changed my internet provider.  The printer connected OK to my new router and shows on the printer it is connected.  However the computer shows it as off-line and I cannot print.  It just goes into a queue.  Both printer and computer are connected to the same router.

Hi @cilgwyn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like a communication issue between your computer and the printer after changing your internet provider. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Restart Your Devices:

  • Turn off both your computer and printer.
  • Restart your router.
  • After the router has fully restarted, turn on the printer and then the computer.

Check Network Connection:

  • Confirm that both the computer and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Check the Wi-Fi signal strength on the printer to ensure it has a stable connection.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit our HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.

Check Printer Status on Computer:

  • Open the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" settings on your computer.
  • Right-click on your printer and check if it's set as the default printer.
  • If it shows as offline, right-click on it and select "Use Printer Online."

Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Run the built-in printer troubleshooter on your computer. This can help identify and fix issues related to the printer.

Reinstall Printer:

  • Remove the printer from your computer's list of devices.
  • Reinstall the printer by adding it again using the "Add a printer" option in the "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners" settings.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your computer's firewall or antivirus settings to ensure they are not blocking the printer communication.

Printer IP Address:

  • Assign a static IP address to your printer. Consult your printer's manual or support documentation for instructions on how to set a static IP.

Update Router Settings:

  • Log in to your router's admin interface and check if there are any settings related to printer connectivity. Ensure that the printer is recognized and allowed on the network.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your HP printer not printing after changing your internet provider.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you very much for your support.

In the end I changed the IP number in the Port so it matched as it had changed by one number.

I'm not sure why it had changed but I am able to print now.

Thanks again.
