Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy laptop will easily connect to our wifi.  At one time, it would connect and print on our Sharp MX-300W MFP (multi-function printer).  Now it will not connect to the printer anymore.  I have tried uninstalling the printer from Devices and reinstalling it.  I have re-downloaded the latest printer drivers from Sharp.  It still will not connect to the printer.

Any thoughts on how to solve this connectivity issue?

Hi @JW1038 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Troubleshooting printer connectivity issues can involve several steps. Here's a guide to help you resolve the problem:

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that the Sharp printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your HP laptop.
  • If the printer has an Ethernet cable option, try connecting it directly to your router using a cable.

Verify Wi-Fi Connection:

  • Confirm that your HP laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Sharp printer.
  • Check for any issues with the Wi-Fi connection on your laptop.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both the laptop and the printer.
  • Wait a few minutes, then turn them back on.
  • Try to reconnect the printer.

Update Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your HP laptop.
  • Visit the Sharp website and download the most recent drivers for your printer model.

Check Printer Sharing Settings:

  • Confirm that printer sharing is enabled on the laptop.
  • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," select the printer, and check the sharing settings.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Temporary disable your firewall and antivirus software.
  • Try printing again to see if the security software is blocking the connection.

Network Discovery and Sharing:

  • Make sure network discovery and file/printer sharing are enabled on your laptop.
• Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Wi-Fi" > "Change advanced sharing options."

IP Configuration:

  • Check the IP configuration of both the laptop and the printer.
  • Make sure they are on the same subnet.

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • Consult your printer's manual to find out how to reset its network settings.
  • After resetting, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Reinstall Printer:

  • Uninstall the printer completely from your laptop.
  • Reboot the laptop.
  • Reinstall the printer using the latest drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
