My HP Envy laptop will easily connect to our wifi. At one time, it would connect and print on our Sharp MX-300W MFP (multi-function printer). Now it will not connect to the printer anymore. I have tried uninstalling the printer from Devices and reinstalling it. I have re-downloaded the latest printer drivers from Sharp. It still will not connect to the printer.
Any thoughts on how to solve this connectivity issue?

Hi @JW1038 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Troubleshooting printer connectivity issues can involve several steps. Here's a guide to help you resolve the problem:
Check Printer Connection:
- Ensure that the Sharp printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your HP laptop.
- If the printer has an Ethernet cable option, try connecting it directly to your router using a cable.
Verify Wi-Fi Connection:
- Confirm that your HP laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Sharp printer.
- Check for any issues with the Wi-Fi connection on your laptop.
Restart Devices:
- Turn off both the laptop and the printer.
- Wait a few minutes, then turn them back on.
- Try to reconnect the printer.
Update Drivers:
- Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your HP laptop.
- Visit the Sharp website and download the most recent drivers for your printer model.
Check Printer Sharing Settings:
- Confirm that printer sharing is enabled on the laptop.
- Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," select the printer, and check the sharing settings.
Firewall/Antivirus Settings:
- Temporary disable your firewall and antivirus software.
- Try printing again to see if the security software is blocking the connection.
Network Discovery and Sharing:
- Make sure network discovery and file/printer sharing are enabled on your laptop.
- Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Wi-Fi" > "Change advanced sharing options."
IP Configuration:
- Check the IP configuration of both the laptop and the printer.
- Make sure they are on the same subnet.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- Consult your printer's manual to find out how to reset its network settings.
- After resetting, reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.
Reinstall Printer:
- Uninstall the printer completely from your laptop.
- Reboot the laptop.
- Reinstall the printer using the latest drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
