I have a HP Laserjet MFP M28w printer.  I changed my WIFI password and SSID name.  My printer is not picking up my WIFI password.  It says "printer offline" and WIFI signal on my printer was blinking.  I read through the forums, VA and spent hours reading and trying solutions.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer twice.  I used the router's push to sync my WIFI to my printer.  Now, the WIFI signal on my printer is steady, not blinking anymore.  My HP Smart app/hub on my laptop says printer is ready.  Does not show offline anymore.  But, when I try to print wirelessly, it gives me an error message.  Laptop and printer is not communicating.....although everything seems OK on the surface.  I'm not sure what else to do.  I tried everything.  It prints fine when I plug in with USB cord.  But I want to print wirelessly and that's not happening.  I'm always getting an error message.

Printer was working fine prior to updating my router password.  After updating router password, it's become a nightmare trying to print.  First time set up and print was a breeze but since password change, it's really difficult to try to get the printer to communicate with the laptop.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Don't know why HP made this so ridiculous.  One should be able to update WIFI passwords/SSID names and not run into printer issues for that. Or at least have an easier option to update the printer's WIFI password/SSID.  I spent more than 5 hours trying to fix this. Such a waste of time.  HP didn't really think about the user experience and that's a big minus.  Thanks for your help in fixing this issue.  I really, really appreciate it!

Hi@GRK01, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

That is because the wifi direct password is different from your wireless network password.

The default wifi direct password is 12345678. For more info on wifi direct, refer to - Printing with Wi-Fi Direct. In this method, there will be no internet access on the mobile device.

Wifi direct is used only if you do not have access to a router. To know how to connect the printer to a wireless router using the WPS method, refer to this document.

You have mentioned you are using a smartphone. Is it Android or iOS?

Are you using a Chromebook to print? If so, refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
