Hi @DN123876,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried many common troubleshooting steps for your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw's wireless printing issue. Let's explore some additional options to resolve the problem:

1. Verify Network Connection Stability

  • Check Printer's Connection to the Network:
    • Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer to confirm it is properly connected to the same WiFi network as your computer.
  • Restart Your Network Devices:
    • Power cycle your router and modem, wait for them to fully reboot, and then reconnect the printer.
  • Use a Static IP Address:
    • Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering its IP address into a web browser.
    • Assign the printer a static IP address in the network settings.
    • Update the printer settings on your Mac with the new static IP.

2. Reset the Print System Completely

  1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
  3. Re-add the printer:
    • Click the + button and select the printer with "Bonjour" or its network name (avoid any drivers that specify "AirPrint" unless specifically required).

3. Check Printer Settings

  • Ensure Wireless Direct Printing is disabled, as it may conflict with standard network printing.
  • Disable the Pause Printing option:
    • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select the printer and uncheck Pause Printing under the Queue menu if enabled.

4. Update or Reinstall HP Smart

  1. Download the latest version of the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
  2. Reinstall the app and set up the printer again.
  3. Use HP Smart to diagnose and fix connectivity issues.

5. Test Alternate Protocols

  • Switch to a Different Protocol:
    • When adding the printer, select a protocol such as IPP or Line Printer Daemon (LPD) instead of AirPrint.

6. Test for Interference

  • Ensure the printer is not too far from the router or obstructed by walls, metal objects, or other devices.
  • Change the WiFi channel on your router to reduce interference, especially if multiple devices are connected.

7. Advanced Network Troubleshooting

  • Check Firewall Settings:
    • Ensure your Mac's firewall is not blocking the printer.
    • Allow incoming connections for the HP software.
  • Assign a Dedicated Router Band:
    • If you have a dual-band router, connect the printer and Mac to the same band (preferably 2.4 GHz).

8. Test an Alternative Printing Method

  • Try HP ePrint or Google Cloud Print (if available on your printer).

9. Factory Reset the Printer

  1. Go to the printer's Setup menu > Service > Restore Defaults.
  2. Reconnect it to the network and re-add it to your Mac.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you changing protocols worked for me. I am still not sure why AirPrint would fail all of a sudden fail but happy to move on with this fix.

HI @DN123876 ,

You're very welcome! I'm glad the protocol change worked for you. It's frustrating when something like AirPrint fails unexpectedly, but sometimes issues can be caused by updates, network changes, or minor software glitches. If it happens again or you need further assistance, feel free to reach out! Happy to help whenever you need it.

If you would like to thank us for our efforts to help you, go to the public post and give us a virtual followed by clicking on the "Accept as solution" on my public post.

Have a great day ahead!
