Hi @cdh68,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet 3830 is listed on your iPhone 14 Plus but won’t print automatically like it used to, even after restarting both devices. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check Wi-Fi connection
Make sure both your iPhone and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Auto-discovery only works when both devices are on the same network.

Restart Wi-Fi on your iPhone
Turn off Wi-Fi on your iPhone, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. This refreshes network discovery for nearby printers.

Confirm printer is online
On the printer, check that the Wi-Fi light is solid (not blinking) and that it shows connected to your network.

Update HP Smart and iOS
Make sure your HP Smart app and your iPhone’s iOS are up to date. Outdated software can prevent the printer from auto-detecting.

Re-add the printer in HP Smart
Open HP Smart, remove the printer, and then add it again. Use the “Add Printer” option and select it from the network list.

Try printing from another app
Test printing from the Notes app or Safari to see if the issue is app-specific. Some apps may need the printer to be selected manually the first time after a network change.

Reset network settings on the printer
If it still doesn’t appear automatically, use the printer’s Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network. This clears any old network configurations that may interfere with auto-discovery.

I hope this helps.
