My printer has never failed me until a few months after I moved in January 2024. the screen was empty but lit light blue . I unplugged from wall, etc repeatedly, tried pressing power longer, shorter, etc. and a couple weeks later it suddenly worked until yesterday. I did add an HP black ink cartridge and printed several pages, scanned, etc. yesterday it would randomly print blank sheets and make sounds like it was connecting to WiFi? Today the light blue empty screen. Pressed power button, long, short, toggled left and right ends of power button but no response. I needed documents for a meeting tomorrow but useless.

Hi @schnaufrau,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some technical issues with your HP OfficeJet 4650 printer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Power Cycle: Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 1-2 minutes. Then plug it back in and try turning on the printer again.
- Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have ink remaining. Sometimes, a faulty or improperly installed cartridge can cause issues.
- Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This can usually be done by navigating through the printer's menu options. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause issues with the printer's functionality. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or by downloading it from the HP website.
- Check for Paper Jams: Open up the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions that may be causing the issue. Clear out any jams and then try printing again.
- Clean Print Heads: If the printer is printing blank pages, it's possible that the print heads may be clogged. Most printers have a cleaning function that you can run to clean the print heads. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issue and get your printer working again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
