Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I cancelled my HP Instant Ink because it was way more expensive that buying a cartridge. Of course as soon as my subscription runs out, I get issues. I knew that my HP instant ink cartridges would no longer work, so I purchased new ones that were compatible with my printer. before I even replaced the ink, the printer was no longer connected to my network. Went through the steps to reconnect it, put in our wi fi password into the printer when setting up, says it cannot connect. Then  did the whole thing over after switching out the ink, still the same issue occurred.

....What do I do?

Hi @ALIO5

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering connectivity issues with your HP OfficeJet printer after cancelling HP Instant Ink and replacing the cartridges. Let's work through some steps to help reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1. Check Wi-Fi Network and Password

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is working properly and the password you're entering is correct.
  • Double-check that the printer is trying to connect to the correct network (sometimes multiple networks or 5GHz networks can cause confusion).
  • 2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz: Some printers may only connect to the 2.4 GHz network. If your router broadcasts both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, try connecting the printer to the 2.4 GHz network (you can check your router settings to separate the networks if needed).

2. Restart Printer and Router

  • Restart the printer: Turn it off, wait for 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Restart your router: Unplug your router, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in to reset the connection.

3. Re-run Wireless Setup

  • Printer Wireless Setup:
    1. On the printer's control panel, select Wireless or Network Setup.
    2. Use the Wireless Setup Wizard to search for your network and enter the password again.
    3. The printer should attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network again. If successful, you should see the connection status on the printer screen.

4. Check Printer IP Address and Router Settings

  • If the above steps don't work, you can check the printer's IP address to see if it's getting assigned one from your router.
    1. Print a network configuration page from your printer (usually found in the Wireless settings or Network settings).
    2. Check if the printer is getting a valid IP address (in the range of your router's IP).

I hope this helps.
