How to get a HP Officejet 4650 printer to work on 5G.

Hi @ELLPM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

The HP Officejet 4650 printer is not designed to work directly on a 5GHz network as it's a printer primarily designed to connect to a standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. However, you can set up the printer to work in conjunction with a dual-band router that supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Here's how you can do it:

Check Compatibility: Make sure your HP Officejet 4650 printer is compatible with your Wi-Fi network and router.

Connect to 2.4GHz Network: Since the Officejet 4650 is designed for 2.4GHz networks, you'll need to connect it to your router's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Follow these steps:

  • On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless icon or open the Setup menu.
  • Choose "Wireless Setup Wizard" and follow the prompts to find and connect to your 2.4GHz network.
  • Enter your network's password when prompted.

Remember that the printer itself won't be able to connect directly to the 5GHz network. Instead, you'll be connecting it to the 2.4GHz network, which should be part of the same dual-band router that's also broadcasting a 5GHz network.

If you are not sure how it works, or want to change the network options, you may connect with your ISP for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
