When I open the HP Smart app everything looks good. But when I hit "scan", it asks me to connect my device to the internet, and then hit "continue". No matter how many times I press "continue" after already being connected to the internet, it won't stop giving me the same message; "connect to the internet and then press continue". I have tried disconnecting, pressing continue, then reconnecting and pressing continue again. I have also tried restarting, to force quit the app (because it doesn't respond to command+q (quit function) after getting stuck in this loop). Please help, I have an HP Envy 4500 and am using a MacBook Air.

@gdeister, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
That endless "connect to the internet" loop is beyond frustrating—especially when you are already connected! 😩 Since your HP Envy 4500 keeps prompting you in HP Smart on your MacBook Air, let's try a few things to break the cycle.
First, make sure HP Smart has the right permissions:
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access, and add HP Smart if it's not already there.
Next, reset HP Smart:
- Sign out of your HP account in HP Smart.
- Delete HP Smart from your Mac.
- Reinstall HP Smart from the App Store.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
