I've had my HP 4200 connected to my old MacBook Pro for the past 10 years. It has a Jetdirect ethernet 620n installed and connected to the router/modem. I've recently purchased a new MacBook pro and I cannot get it to print through any print menus. I have downloaded the HP Smart App and it is able to print through that app, but I've been told that once it is set up through there, it should print through other menus (such as on a google document).
I've been on the phone with Apple support trouble shooting many different avenues - uninstalling, reinstalling... blah blah blah, but we were unsuccessful.
When I print through any app, it gives an error that the filter failed and stopped the printing. I searched for remedies and reset the printing system and reinstalled the printer AGAIN. While it is nice that it will print through the HP Smart App, it isn't what I would like it to do as it adds another several steps to print anything I want to print.
Please help point me in the right direction. What could the problem be?
