Hi @Geof100 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Tango X printer has lost its WiFi connection, and the HP Smart App is unable to detect it. Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve this issue:

1. Restart Devices

  • Power Cycle Printer: Turn off your HP Tango X printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart Router: Restart your WiFi router by unplugging it, waiting for about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  • Restart Computer: Restart your computer or device you are using with the HP Smart App.

2. Check WiFi Connection

  • Ensure WiFi Signal: Make sure your printer is within range of your WiFi router. A weak WiFi signal can cause connectivity issues.
  • Check Network Status: Verify that your WiFi network is working properly and that other devices can connect to it without issues.

3. Reconnect Printer to WiFi

  • Use the HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart App on your device. If the app doesn't automatically detect the printer, go to the printer setup option and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer to the WiFi network.
  • Manual WiFi Setup: If the HP Smart App cannot find the printer, you might need to manually set up the printer on your WiFi network:
    • On the printer, press and hold the WiFi button for about 5 seconds until the blue light starts blinking.
    • On your computer or smartphone, open the WiFi settings and connect to the printer's WiFi network (it usually starts with "HP-Setup-").
    • Once connected, open a web browser and type in 192.168.223.1 to access the printer's configuration page.
    • Follow the instructions to connect the printer to your home WiFi network.

4. Update Printer Firmware and HP Smart App Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. This can usually be done from the HP Smart App or by visiting the HP website and downloading the latest firmware for your printer model.
  • Update HP Smart App: Make sure the HP Smart App is up to date. Check the app store on your device for any available updates.

5. Reinstall HP Smart App  HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • If the above steps don't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart App. This can sometimes resolve detection issues.

6. Check Firewall and Security Settings

  • If you have security software or a firewall on your computer, ensure it is not blocking the HP Smart App or printer from connecting. You may need to temporarily disable the firewall or add exceptions for the printer and app.

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool on your computer. This utility can help diagnose and fix common printer connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
