Hi @Blue0825

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when everything works smoothly on your phone but your new MacBook shows errors when printing.

You’ve already taken the right first step by installing the HP App, so let’s focus on getting the printer properly recognized by macOS.

Here are the steps you can try:

1. Remove and Re‑Add the Printer

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your OfficeJet 4650 and remove it.
  • Click the plus (+) sign to add it again.
  • When the printer appears, make sure the “Use” field shows AirPrint or Secure AirPrint. If it shows “Generic” or something else, change it to AirPrint before adding.

2. Reset the Printing System (if the error persists)

  • In Printers & Scanners, right‑click (or Control‑click) in the printer list.
  • Choose Reset printing system.
  • Re‑add the printer as described above. This clears out any misconfigured queues.

3. Test with a Simple Document

  • Open a file in Preview or TextEdit.
  • Select File > Print and choose your OfficeJet 4650.
  • If AirPrint is active, the job should go through without error.

4. Use the HP App for Scanning and Settings

  • The HP App on macOS is mainly for scanning and managing printer settings.
  • Printing itself should rely on AirPrint, which is built into macOS and doesn’t require extra drivers.

5. Try USB Connection (if using Wi‑Fi)

  • If you’re connected wirelessly and still see errors, connect the printer directly to your MacBook with a USB cable.
  • Add the printer again in Printers & Scanners. This helps confirm whether the issue is network‑related.

You’ve already shown patience and persistence, and once the printer is added with AirPrint, it should work as smoothly as it does from your phone.
