Hi @Jan2405,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 580 printer isn't responding to the print command, there could be several reasons behind this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check Printer Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless printer, make sure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue. Turn off the printer, unplug it from power, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
- Check Printer Status: Make sure there are no error messages or warnings displayed on the printer's control panel. If there are any, resolve those issues first.
- Printer Queue: Check the printer queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. If there are, try canceling them and then resend the print command.
- Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
- Restart Computer: Sometimes, issues with the computer itself can cause printing problems. Restart your computer and try printing again.
- Check for Software Conflicts: Make sure that there are no software conflicts or compatibility issues causing the problem. Try printing from a different program or application to see if the issue persists.
- Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. Refer to the printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
If you've tried all these steps and the problem still persists, it might be a hardware issue with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
