Is it going to sleep?  Energy efficient printer have a sleep option.  On my Canon printer if I do not use it for a long time I have to push the online button. My HP printer is hardwired ethernet and unlike my Canon Wi-Fi, it can be woken up by the router it is wired to.

Try disabling sleep or set it to a longer timeout

Access the printers embedded web page and set sleep to off or never.
Click here to see an example of turning off sleep.

If every time it wakes up (or you turn it on) you end up having to reconnect using the Wi-Fi password, that is a different problem.  Le me know if you have to always reconnect the Wi-Fi to make it work.

The below is all know about your printer.

You may need to reset the printer: video here or read this

Wi-Fi setup to router: video here

For Wi-Fi direct setup see page 36 of below User Manual.
This is useful if you do not have access to the router or you want to avoid using the router and print directly to the printer.

Simple push button or WPS setup is described on page 19 of User Manual
