HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One

So I am having trouble with my parents HP Smart Tank 7301 connecting to the network. I have tried resetting the printer and tried reconnecting it through HP app however it keeps giving me an error "Unable to connect printer to network" I am however to connect the printer using wps to network BUT the problem there is when the power goes out the printer will not reconnect to the network and is dead in the water until wps setup is redone. Hardwire work flawlessly but they would like to have it wireless and the power company is doing updates to the power grid so they lose power often. My question is: is there anyway to connect printer to network using wps and then locking the ip address to that printer so it will connect if it happens again? 2nd question why am I having an issue connecting the printer using the app setup with the error message "unable to connect printer to network" Thank you in advance if anyone can help me.

Sandytechy20,

Thank you for reaching out. It is actually a printer, HP Smart Tank 7301. Is there anyway I can login to the web setting of the printer to change the IP address. I was reading that since I connected the printer using WPS and the power goes out it has a hard time connecting it. I was wondering if there was anyway I could change the IP address once I get it connect to the wifi using the WPS?

Follow these steps to fix the connectivity issues:-

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  • Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
  • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
  • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  • If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
  • Try to print.

Assign a manual IP address to manually connect the printer.

Find the printer IP address from the network configuration page to assign it manually.

  1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless) and then touch Settings.
  2. Touch Print Reports. and then touch Network configuration Page or Wireless Test Report.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.

You can try steps 2 and steps 4 in this HP document for more assistance:- Click here
