I am currently helping a family member set up their printer. During wireless setup, their network momentarily went out, and now the menu cannot be accessed. Hard reset has been tried, to no avail. The HP Smart app cannot be used as the printer no longer appears on the app. Is there any way to factory reset it without the menu or the app? Perhaps a CMOS battery somewhere that can be pulled? The printer is still under warranty.

Hi @N35,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 7602 lost connection during Wi-Fi setup and is now unresponsive, and you've already tried a hard reset without success, you can attempt a few additional steps to resolve the issue. Since the printer is still under warranty, you might also consider contacting HP Support for further assistance or service. Here’s a detailed approach to troubleshooting and resolving the issue:
1. Perform a Factory Reset Without Accessing the Menu
Since the menu is not accessible and the HP Smart app does not recognize the printer, you can try a few methods to perform a factory reset:
1.1. Power Cycle and Reset
Turn Off the Printer:
- Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not respond to the power button, unplug it from the power source.
Unplug the Printer:
- Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
Wait:
- Wait for about 60 seconds to ensure that all residual power is discharged.
Replug and Power On:
- Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.
- Press the power button to turn the printer back on.
Check for Reset:
- After powering on, see if the printer has reset to its factory settings. If it boots up normally, you may need to try the wireless setup again.
1.2. Use the Reset Button (If Available)
Some HP printers have a dedicated reset button or sequence:
Locate the Reset Button:
- Check the printer’s manual or look for a small hole or button labeled "Reset" on the back or bottom of the printer.
Press the Reset Button:
- If available, use a paperclip or similar tool to press and hold the reset button for about 15-30 seconds.
Release and Restart:
- Release the button and wait for the printer to restart.
2. Access and Reconfigure Wi-Fi Setup
Once the printer resets or if you manage to access the menu:
Reconfigure Wi-Fi Setup:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the wireless setup menu (if accessible) and reconfigure the Wi-Fi settings.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
Use the HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your device and follow the prompts to set up the printer again.
3. Check Printer Connections and Hardware
Inspect Cables and Connections:
- Ensure all cables are securely connected and there are no visible signs of damage.
Printer Hardware:
- Check for any obstructions or issues with the printer’s internal components.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
