Microsoft Windows 11

I am having issues with my HP Smart Tank Plus 570. It will not connect to the internet, doesn't recognize my modem. Blinking blue light, and computer tells me the printer is offline and to turn the printer on, even though it is on. I've tried all the tricks, restarting it, unplugging it, resorting the Wi-Fi. Nothing is working. I just bought this about 3 months ago, and I'm pissed I can't scan or do anything. the only way to print is through a USB cord connected directly to the computer......what do I do....I'm lost!!!

Hi @Kate0803

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for already restarting and unplugging the printer and router—that shows great initiative. The blinking blue light means the printer is in wireless setup mode or trying to connect but failing. Your HP Smart Tank Plus 570 is powered on and working via USB, so the issue lies in restoring a clean wireless connection.

Let’s walk through a precise reset and reconnection process to get your printer back online and scanning wirelessly.

Step 1: Restore Network Settings on the Printer

This clears any corrupted or partial Wi-Fi configurations.

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds.
  2. The wireless light will blink, indicating the printer is now in setup mode.

Step 2: Reconnect Using the HP App

On your Windows 11 PC, open the HP App.

In the app, click Set up a new printer.

Select HP Smart Tank Plus 570 from the list.

Follow the on-screen steps to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

  • Make sure your PC is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.
  • Enter the correct Wi-Fi password when prompted.

If the printer doesn’t appear, click Add Printer and retry.

Step 3: Confirm Printer is Online in Windows

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your printer > Printer properties.
  3. Under the Ports tab, ensure the selected port is WSD or Standard TCP/IP (not USB).
  4. Go to the General tab and click Print Test Page.

Step 4: Run HP Diagnose & Fix Tool

This checks for offline status, driver issues, and network conflicts.

Follow the prompts and allow it to complete the scan.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Visit: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  2. Enter HP Smart Tank Plus 570.
  3. Download and install the latest firmware and full feature software.

Step 6: Check Router Compatibility

  • Ensure your router is broadcasting 2.4 GHz (not 5 GHz only).
  • Avoid special characters in your Wi-Fi name or password.
  • Place the printer within 6–8 feet of the router during setup.

Once the wireless light turns solid blue, your printer is connected. You’ll be able to scan, print, and manage everything from the HP App. If the issue returns, try assigning a static IP to the printer via your router settings to prevent future drops.

Let’s get your printer back to full wireless freedom—once you’ve tried these steps, I’m here to help you fine-tune further if needed.
