Product: HP office jet pro 6978
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Smart can't seem to "find" my printer.  The printer is connected to wifi and I am able to send items to print just fine.  But scan and other items won't work because "printer status unknown."  The diagnostics wouldn't work and advised to make sure my printer was connected to wifi. which I did and it always is.  I tried adding the printer using the IP address and then it found it, but when I tried to add I was taken back to the same place of "printer status unknown". I need to do more than just print

Please try HP Scan Extended using the following software


              https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi


Once it's downloaded and installed, for Windows 10:


  (a) Hit Win key,
  (b) Scroll down to HP group/folder,
  (c) Double click "HP Scan Extended"


You can put a shortcut on Taskbar or Desktop
