First of all I couldn't get the printer to reconnect to our home wifi after the provider had a long national outage; now having uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart to attempt reconnection, I'm told repeatedly I can't load the installed app, see pic below.  Aaaarrrghhhh!

Hi @JenniThynne,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with the HP app not loading and the HP Smart Tank not reconnecting to Wi-Fi, especially after an internet outage, here are some steps you can take.

HP App Issues:

  • Check for Updates: Ensure that the HP app is updated to the latest version available on your device's app store.
  • Reinstall the App: If the app still won’t load, try uninstalling it completely and then reinstall it from the official app store, ensuring all app data is cleared if possible.
  • App Permissions: Verify that the app has all necessary permissions enabled, particularly for network access.
  • Restart Device: Simply restarting your smartphone, tablet, or computer might resolve software glitches preventing the app from loading.

HP Smart Tank Wi-Fi Reconnection:

  • Reset Network Settings: On the printer, you might need to reset the network settings. This can usually be done by going through the printer’s control panel menu and selecting the network reset option.
  • Reconnect Manually: Use the printer’s control panel to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network manually. Ensure you enter the correct Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
  • Verify Router Settings: Ensure your router is functioning correctly and that there are no restrictions or blocks that might hinder the printer from connecting to the Wi-Fi.
  • Positioning: Make sure that the printer is within range of the Wi-Fi signal and free from physical obstructions.

General Check-Up:

  • Router Restart: Sometimes, restarting the router can help reset connections and fix any temporary networking issues.
  • Printer Restart: Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
