HP SmartTank 580 appears not connected while using ethernet

I want to clean the printhead in my HP Smart Tank 580 but it appears as not connected. I'm using ethernet at my work because the wi-fi can't reach my office. And the router is in another building.

1. Verify Ethernet Connection

• Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the printer and the router or network switch.
• Check if the printer’s Ethernet port light is on or blinking to confirm connectivity.

2. Check Printer’s Network Status

• Print a Network Configuration Page:
  1. Press the Cancel button (X) and the Information button (i) simultaneously on the printer control panel.
  2. Review the printed page to confirm the Ethernet connection and IP address.

If there’s no IP address or it shows 0.0.0.0, the printer isn't connecting to the network.

3. Assign a Static IP Address

1. Access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS):
   • Use another device connected to the same network.
   • Enter the printer’s IP address (from the Network Configuration Page) into a browser's address bar.
2. Navigate to Network Settings and assign a static IP address within the range of your network.

4. Add Printer Using Static IP

• On your computer:
  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
  2. Select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  3. Choose Add a printer using TCP/IP address.
  4. Enter the static IP address and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

5. Update Firmware and Drivers Update the firmware on an HP printer

• Download the latest firmware and driver for the HP Smart Tank 580 from the HP Support website.
• Install them on your computer to ensure compatibility.

1. Open the HP Smart App on your computer.
2. Add the printer using its static IP if it’s not already listed.
3. Access Printer Maintenance and select Clean Printheads.
    

• Network Isolation: If the router is in another building, network isolation might block communication. Speak with your IT department to ensure the printer is on the same subnet as your computer.
• Wi-Fi Direct (Temporary Solution): If all else fails, consider enabling Wi-Fi Direct on the printer for a direct connection to your computer temporarily:
  1. Press the Wi-Fi Direct button on the printer to enable.
  2. Connect your computer to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network (SSID and password are usually printed on a label near the printer).
