Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hi, hoping someone can help me here 🙂

So I have a HP Tango X, and I've just changed my broadband provider (in the UK).

I believe that I have successful connected the printer to the new broadband network. Printing the Info Page states that I'm connected to the network, and that the signal strength is excellent. We were also actually printing pages, and all was fine.

Then we started getting a message stating that @the printer might not be connected to HP instant Ink anymore", and we could no longer print (presumably the machine is out of ink/thinks that it might be.

When I go onto the app, it's telling me that the printer is offline. I've also tried a second laptop, again, it tells me that the printer is offline. The generated Printer Information Pages continue to say it is connected, and the network stated on the Information page is the same network the laptops are connected ti.

I've tried restarting the laptop, and the printer, and still the same result.

Getting a little frustrated, to be honest , so hope someone can help 🙂

Hi @ChrisW77,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a classic case of your HP Tango X printer showing as offline in your app and on other devices, despite it being connected to your network and having a strong signal. This situation can indeed be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue. Let's walk through them:

1. Check HP Instant Ink Status

Since the issue started with a message about HP Instant Ink, first ensure that your HP Instant Ink account is in good standing. Sometimes, if there's a problem with your Instant Ink account (like billing issues or a subscription problem), it can cause printing to be disabled. Log into your HP Instant Ink account to check for any alerts or messages.

2. Confirm Network Connectivity

Although the printer states it's connected, it's worth double-checking. Perform another network test from the printer's control panel or settings menu. This test can provide additional insights into any potential connectivity issues.

3. Printer IP Address

Check the IP address on the printer's information page and try accessing the printer's web interface by typing the IP address into a web browser. If you can access it, the printer is indeed on the network, but if not, there may be a connectivity issue that's not immediately apparent.

4. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)

If you're using a Windows laptop, HP provides a utility called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Download it from the HP website, run it, and follow the instructions to see if it can resolve the issue.

5. Disable 'Printer Offline' Mode

On your computer:

  • Go to the Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP Tango X printer and select 'See what's printing'.
  • From the menu that appears, select 'Printer'. If 'Use Printer Offline' is checked, uncheck it.

6. Reconnect to the Network

If none of the above steps work, try reconnecting your printer to the network. This involves removing the printer from your network settings and going through the setup process again as if it were a new printer. Follow the instructions provided with your printer or on the HP website for reconnecting to a wireless network.

7. Update Printer Firmware

Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues. You can usually find this option within the printer's web interface (accessible via its IP address) or through the HP Smart app. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
