Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am going to discard and old HP 6110 printer. Is there any memory in it that should be cleared before letting it go?

if so, what steps to take.

Hi @dresdenron,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to discard this printer HP Officejet 6110 All-in-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Before discarding your HP Officejet 6110 All-in-One Printer, it's a good idea to clear any stored information to ensure your personal data is protected. Here are some steps you can take:

Clear Print Jobs:

  • Cancel Print Jobs: Make sure to cancel any print jobs that might be queued. You can do this from your computer's print queue.
  • Delete Jobs from Printer: If the printer has a display, navigate to the print job settings and clear any pending jobs directly from the printer.

Remove and Dispose of Ink Cartridges:

  • Take Out Cartridges: Remove the ink cartridges from the printer. This prevents the potential for any personal data or configurations to be stored on the cartridges.

Reset the Printer to Factory Settings:

  • Access Settings: Go to the printer’s setup menu (refer to the user manual if needed).
  • Perform Factory Reset: Look for an option to restore factory settings or reset the printer to default settings. This should clear any custom configurations or settings that might have been saved.

Disconnect and Unplug:

  • Unplug the Printer: Ensure the printer is unplugged from any power source and from your computer.
  • Disconnect Cables: Remove any connected cables to avoid leaving any data transfer options open.

Dispose of Properly:

  • Recycling: Consider recycling the printer through a proper electronic waste disposal service. Many electronics retailers and municipalities offer recycling programs for old printers.
