Hi @sadie1232,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP app is unable to find your HP 8120e printer even though it's connected to Wi-Fi, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue and disable Instant Ink:

Step 1: Troubleshoot Printer Connection

Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

  • Make sure the Wi-Fi icon on the printer is solid and indicates a strong connection.

Ensure Printer and Device are on the Same Network: Verify that the device you are using the HP app on is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.

Restart Devices: Restart your printer, computer, or mobile device.

  • Turn off the printer, then power it back on.
  • Restart your computer or mobile device.

Re-add the Printer in HP App: Sometimes removing and re-adding the printer can help:

  • Open the HP app, remove the printer from the list, and try adding it again.

HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site

Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode:

  • For printers with a touchscreen, go to Network Setup or Settings and select "Restore Network Settings."
  • For printers without touchscreens, follow your printer's manual to restore the network settings.

Check Internet Connection: Ensure your internet is working by opening a website on a connected device.

Step 2: Disable Instant Ink

To disable Instant Ink, you need to access your HP Instant Ink account if the HP app is not showing your printer:

Sign in to your HP Instant Ink account using your credentials.

Navigate to the printer you want to disable Instant Ink for.

Locate the "Manage Subscription" or "Plans" section.

Follow the prompts to cancel or modify your Instant Ink subscription.

If you continue to face issues, contact HP Instant Ink support for further assistance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you for getting back to us. Is the printer and the phone/computer connected to the same network?

Follow these steps to print a printer report.

1. On the control panel Home screen, touch Menu.
2. Scroll to Utilities and touch Tools.
3. Touch Reports, and then touch Status Reports.
4. Select Network Configuration Report and touch Print.

This report will help you find the IP address of the printer.

Using this IP address, open a browser on your phone or computer and enter the IP address on the address.

If both the devices are on the same network, the EWS page of the printer should come up on your screen.

If, delete and reinstall the HP app and add the printer again.
