Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

I installed my HP printer the old fashioned way, finding printer driver and network connections. HP app thinks it's not installed or online. It's there and I can ping it fine. I even installed the printer on a separate windows 10 machine.  What is wrong with the app? If I can't get a solution to this, I will cancel my subscription to the INK program. Why am I paying for something that can't be fixed?
