Same problem here.  Have tried the various suggestions - all to no avail.  HP techs have stated that they have sent printer specific instructions to folks via private communication (I assume through this channel.  Have requested via post that they do the same for me.  Meantime, my new Brother printer will arrive Friday.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your printer screen is frozen, I am glad to assist you.

You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer to fix this issue.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Thank you for responding.  Unfortunately the solution you have provided requires an active printer screen.  As I mentioned, the printer is in a state where the screen is frozen with only the HP logo on it and the first progress button shaded in.  The power switch is not responsive.  Unplugging/re-plugging the power has no effect - the same frozen screen appears after power is applied.  Switching USB cables and ports also has no effect.  HP Smart reports that the printer is offline, likely because it is stuck in its initialization state.  Any additional advice you can provide for a situation where the screen is not a viable input device would be greatly appreciated.
