Unable to print using HP Inkjet M255DW from network. Shows up on network but drops after print command. Tried shutting off 5ghz so using 2.4ghz band. Had no problem with Bitsurfer modem now using Eero modem and new Frontier service.

@Davidhumm, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding network drop after changing the network on your HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw is having connectivity issues with your new Eero modem and Frontier service. Since it drops from the network after a print command, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:

Check Network Settings

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the 2.4GHz band and not trying to switch to 5GHz. Eero networks sometimes use band steering, which can cause devices to disconnect.
  • Assign a static IP address to your printer via the Eero app or your Frontier router settings to prevent IP conflicts.

Reconfigure Wireless Connection

  1. On your printer, restore network settings:
    • Tap Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings and confirm.
  2. Reconnect the printer:
    • Go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Setup Wizard, then reconnect to your Wi-Fi.

Update Printer Firmware & Drivers

  • Check for firmware updates via the HP website or HP Smart app.
  • Ensure your Mac has the latest HP printer drivers. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, remove the printer, then re-add it using AirPrint or HP drivers.

Disable Eero Security Features

  • If Eero Secure or Advanced Security is enabled, try disabling it temporarily to see if it affects the connection.
  • Some users have reported better stability by turning off WPA3 in the Eero settings (switch to WPA2).

Check Sleep Mode & Power Settings

  • Go to Setup > Power Settings on the printer and disable sleep mode or set it to a longer duration.
  • Ensure Wi-Fi Direct is off if you don’t use it, as it can sometimes interfere with the network connection.

After these steps, test printing again. Let me know if the issue persists! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
