Anyone have experience with a rooter replacement and having to re-set-up your printer, and you lost your printer password?  I walked through my usual, rooter password with no success, cant connect.  I can find it through wifi, but dont have password to print.

Anyone know about next steps?

Thank you

Hi @frank9999,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing difficulty reconnecting your HP printer to a new router after a replacement, and you've lost the printer password. Here are some steps you can try.

  1. Default Credentials:

    • Check the printer's manual or documentation for default login credentials. Sometimes, the default username and password are provided there.
  2. Factory Reset the Printer:

    • Many printers have a reset button that you can press to restore the device to its factory settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings, including the Wi-Fi password. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  3. WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

    • If your new router supports WPS, you can use it to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network without entering the password manually. Follow the instructions in your printer manual for WPS setup.
  4. Connect via USB:

    • If all else fails, you can connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable and set it up as a new printer. This can often be done through the printer settings on your computer.
  5. HP Smart App:

    • HP provides the "HP Smart" app, which can be used to set up and manage HP printers. Download the app on your smartphone or tablet, and follow the instructions to set up your printer. The app might provide an alternative way to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
