Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP 9010 has stopped connecting to the wifi. When I try to reconnect, I get a message that an Ethernet cable has not been detected.

I have reset to restore network settings as suggested (under settings - network setup - restore network settings) and this has not solved the problem. I am extremely frustrated as I am behind at work and have wasted over 2 hours troubleshooting this already.

Can anyone give me any actual advice beyond the “unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in” obvious solutions?

Hi @94530

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer is not connecting to Wi-Fi and keeps asking for an Ethernet cable, it may be stuck in a wired connection mode or experiencing a network configuration issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Restart the Printer and Router:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Turn off the router and unplug it for at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the router back in and wait for it to fully restart.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Reconfigure Wi-Fi Connection:

  • After the network settings have been reset, go back to the Network Setup or Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Ensure you select the correct Wi-Fi network and enter the correct password.

Assign a Static IP Address:

  • Sometimes, assigning a static IP address to the printer can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Access the printer's Network Settings and look for an option to set a static IP address.
  • Enter an IP address within the range of your router but outside the DHCP range to avoid conflicts.

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults:

  • As a last resort, you can reset the printer to factory defaults. This will erase all settings and configurations.
  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore or Reset.
  • Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm the reset.

Follow the link for detailed steps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
