I am trying to connect via the internet to my 2732 deskjet printer.  I've downloaded new printer drivers, turned on the printer, wifi is working, chosen correct printer from "connect a device" and it looks like it is going to connect until I get the message that it didn't work and i need to "try adding your direct-71-hp deskjet 2700 series again, or check with the manufacturer for additional set up directions."  I can't find my user manual since I purchased this printer several years ago, and I'm not sure where to go to ask the manufacturer.  Help!

Hi @MelissaGaudio91

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Not to worry, I'll do my best to reconnect the printer to your wireless network.

Let us try to restore the printer to the default network settings, and then use HP Smart to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1:

Restore network default settings on the printer, to do that - Use the Cancel and Wireless buttons to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.

Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time for five seconds until the Power button starts blinking.

Note: Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

Button presses to restore wireless settings

Wait until the blue Wireless button light blinks continuously.

Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

Step 2:

Uninstall and re-install the HP Smart app on your computer/mobile device.

Place the printer and the computer or mobile device near the Wi-Fi router.

Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.

Enable Bluetooth on the computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

After installing HP Smart for iOS and Android, enable the mobile device location service and allow the app to use your location to detect the printer and offer solutions during setup.

Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPadOS).

In HP Smart, click Add Printer or the plus sign to search for the printer, and then follow the instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know if this helps.

Note: HP DeskJet 2700e series only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks, not 5GHz, so you need to connect it to the 2.4GHz band of your router for wireless printing. If your router combines both bands under one name (SSID), you might need to separate them in the router settings to ensure the printer connects to the correct frequency, as it can cause connection issues.

If you are not sure of this, please check with your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
