Hi @3carreons,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 4635 printer is having trouble connecting to your Wi-Fi network. The "No Filtering, FAIL" message typically indicates a problem with the connection settings, possibly related to your network configuration or the printer's network setup. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this.
Check Your Wi-Fi Settings
- Ensure your router is working properly: Test your Wi-Fi with another device to confirm it’s functioning.
- Make sure the printer is within range: If the printer is too far from the router, it may fail to connect.
- Check if your router uses WPA2 encryption: Many older printers may struggle with newer encryption methods. Ensure that your router uses WPA2 or WPA encryption (avoid WPA3 for compatibility).
- Make sure the printer is on the correct frequency band: Many printers only support the 2.4GHz band, so ensure your router's 2.4GHz band is active and the printer connects to it, rather than the 5GHz band.
- Disable MAC filtering on your router: If your router has MAC filtering enabled, it might be blocking the printer’s connection. Disable this temporarily and try connecting again.
Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
- Perform a network reset:
- On your printer’s control panel, go to the Wi-Fi settings or Network Settings.
- Look for an option to reset the network settings. This will clear any saved Wi-Fi connections.
- After resetting, try connecting to your Wi-Fi network again.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- After resetting the network settings, the printer should allow you to re-enter your Wi-Fi details.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password carefully and confirm it’s correct.
- Check for interference: If there’s interference from other networks or devices, try changing your router’s Wi-Fi channel.
Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
- If your router and printer support WPS, you can connect the printer to the network without entering the Wi-Fi password manually:
- Press the WPS button on your router.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the printer’s control panel.
- Wait for the printer to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Update Printer Firmware
- If the printer is connected but still having issues, check for a firmware update through the printer’s settings menu. An outdated firmware can cause connection issues.

Check for Network Conflicts
- If multiple devices are trying to connect, there might be IP address conflicts or router overloads. Restart your router to clear any issues.
Reconnect Using HP Smart or HP Print and Scan Doctor
- You can use the HP Smart app or HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and troubleshoot network issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
