Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Have been dealing with Hawks_Eye for weeks trying to get my 7320 to work via wireless.  Have an HP OJPro 8715 working wirelessly w/o any problems.  Last response from Hawks_Eye was to go to an HP site for one-on-one assistance.  Unfortunately the link he sent only opens a blank page.  Have queried him 3 times for another working link w/o response.  Have reached the point in his instructions where  I need the printer IP address...but no idea on how to find it.  Would sincerely appreciate help with the IP issue or the process to get one on one assistance!

Hi  @swedberg71.

Thanks for reaching out!

I  hear your concern on  how  this must feel especially since your other printer connects wirelessly without issue.

Could you please confirm the exact model number of the printer you’re trying to connect? You mentioned both HP 7302 and 7320 just want to be sure which one we’re troubleshooting.

  • Is the printer currently showing any error messages or connection prompts on its display?
  • Are you trying to connect it directly to your Wi-Fi network, or through HP App on your computer/phone?

Here are a few steps you can try :

1.Find the Printer IP Address

On most HP printers, press the Wireless or Network button on the control panel.

Navigate to Settings → Network Setup → Wireless Settings → Print Reports → Network Configuration Page.

This will print a page showing the printer’s IP address.

2.Check Wireless Settings

Make sure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

If your router has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting the printer to the 2.4 GHz band—it’s often more stable for printers.

3/Restart Devices

Power cycle your printer, router, and computer. Sometimes a fresh restart clears connection issues.

4.HP App

If you haven’t already, install the HP Smart app on your PC or mobile device. It can automatically detect the printer and help configure wireless settings.

I hope this helps.

Deep_World,

Thanks for the response and suggestions.  Fingers must be dyslexic...the offending printer is an HP7302, S/N:  TH43G6B0QN.   As with the currently working, network connect HP OJPro 8715,  I'm trying to get the 7302 to connect.  My problem is that I don't receive any Settings option when I press the Wireless button,  just this graphic image:

HP7302 screen.jpg

Working with Hawks_Eye I was able to get this printer information, but no IP address:

7302 Info.jpg

I have the HP Smart app and while it recognized my 7302, repeated efforts working with Hawks_Eye couldn't get it to connect.  Again, no help in finding the IP address.  As I stated, Hawks_Eye eventually recommended the 1 on 1 assistance, potentially taking over my computer, to get a solution.  Unfortunately the link just opened a blank page.  The 7302 works...recently connected via ethernet, but hoping to get a WiFi connection as with my 9715!

Hi  @swedberg71,

Thanks for your response and thank you for sharing the details and picture, that really helps paint the picture of what’s happening.

On the HP OfficeJet 7302, the wireless button should normally bring up a settings menu where you can view or configure the Wi‑Fi connection. Since you’re only seeing a graphic image and not the expected options, here are a few steps you can try:

1.Restart the printer and router: Power both off for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on. Sometimes the wireless menu doesn’t populate correctly until the printer re‑establishes communication with the network.

2.Use the printer’s control panel: On the 7302, try pressing the Wireless icon and then look for a gear or “Setup” symbol. If it doesn’t appear, navigate through the Settings → Network Setup → Wireless Setup Wizard path manually (if available).

3.Check via HP app: Since the app recognizes your 7302, go into the app’s printer settings and look for “Advanced Settings.” This usually opens the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS). If the printer is on Ethernet, the app should be able to pull up the EWS, where you can confirm or set the Wi‑Fi connection.

4.Print a Network Configuration Page: From the printer’s control panel, look for “Reports” or “Network Configuration.” This page should list the IP address if the printer is connected, even via Ethernet. Once you have the IP, you can type it into a browser to open the EWS and configure Wi‑Fi.

5.Reset the network settings: If the wireless menu continues to be unresponsive, you may need to restore the printer’s network defaults (usually under Settings → Network Setup → Restore Network Settings). After that, try the Wireless Setup Wizard again.

Since you mentioned the printer works fine on Ethernet, that’s a good sign it means the hardware is healthy. The issue is just with the wireless setup menu not appearing as expected. If after trying these steps the Wi‑Fi option still won’t show, it may point to a firmware glitch. In that case, updating the printer’s firmware through HP App (while connected via Ethernet) often resolves hidden menu issues.

I hope this helps.

Deep_World,

Thanks for the response and your suggestions.  I have restarted the printer numerous times and also disconnected the power cord.  I have a Cox supplied router and am quite frankly concerned about turning it off [I assume by pulling its plug?] and in the process disabling my working 8715.

As to your #2, all i get is the same screen I previously sent...no joy!

#3:  I went to the HP app. found the Advanced Settings and unfortunately got this error msg:

#4:  Again, no Reports or Network Configuration on the printer's control panel.

#5:  I'm not sure how or from where, but I got this Network information page:

I found an IP address!  Tried entering it into my Safari browser and got this disappointing result:

Pretty sure my 15 year old granddaughter couldn't help me as to a next step...I've got my fingers and toes X'd that you can?  Been working on this issue for a very long time.  Not sure if you have access to the back & forth I had with Hawks_Eye, but as a final info submission here's a screenshot of our interaction:

Hi @swedberg71,

Thank you for sharing all those details and screenshots  they’re very helpful in understanding what’s happening with your HP OfficeJet 7302.Since the printer works fine on Ethernet but refuses to cooperate wirelessly. Let’s go step by step:

1.Accessing EWS with IP Address You mentioned entering the IP into Safari gave you an error. Sometimes Safari blocks certain printer pages. Could you try using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge instead? Enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar, and you should see the EWS page. From there, go to Network → Wireless Setup Wizard.

3.Restore Network Defaults On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings → Network Setup → Restore Network Settings. This clears out any corrupted wireless profiles. After that, try the Wireless Setup Wizard again.

4.Direct Wireless Connection (Wi‑Fi Direct) : Try using  Wi‑Fi Direct. On the printer, look for Wi‑Fi Direct under Network settings. This allows your computer or phone to connect directly to the printer without going through the router.

Deep_World,

I'm now convinced that my 7302 just doesn't like me!  I entered the IP address into Chrome and after taking a deep breath ignoring the warnings, I got the 7302's EWS.

Screenshot 2026-06-26 at 12.04.55 PM.png

Opened the Setup Wizard and followed the directions to look for my Pin in the cartridge access area.  Here's the label:

HP7302 Pin.jpg

Entered the Pin ...and the printer just doesn't like me:

Since it won't accept the Pin {i tried it twice!] what the next step, if there is one?

Deep_World,

Very disappointing that I'm being directed to Best Buy [nearest service center] for a Geek Squad potential solution.  I'm unable to get back to the E-mail chain I had with Hawks_Eye, but as I've mentioned before, he was proposing getting a 1 on 1 session where an HP Expert would be able to take control of my computer and theoretically work their computer magic remotely to enable the printer to work wirelessly.  Unfortunately, the site he referenced just opened a blank page...no 1 on 1 expert!  Before carrying it down to Best Buy [and I'd have a face to face talk with them before doing that!] is the 1 on 1 referenced by Hawks_Eye an option and do you have a working link to set that up.  Regardless, I do Thank You for your patience and efforts in trying to name the 7302 work wirelessly.  But it shouldn't be this difficult!
