HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer

HP8020 seems to be working fine and has worked fine for over a year doing everything.

But today, I could not print a word document in color from my PC.  (but I could do a PDF in color).  When trying to print from word, it does not give any color print options.

I ran the HP doctor -- no help at all.

I am running HP smart -- no help at all.

I rebooted routers, computer and printer.

++But one time it said I need a firmware update,  but then said it couldn't update because it said my printer is not connected to wifi.  But it is connected to wifi with good signal.   I tried to firmware update from printer settings  menu and it said it did not need firmware update.    (HP Print and Scan Doctor says it has firmware MALBECPP1N004.2129A.00)

++ I am on a google wifi wireless router mesh with 2.5 and 5 Ghz dual band.    Printer says it is on 5Ghz and PC also.   This has not been a problem before.

++Quite frustrating waste of time.    It seems like the Print doctor app could be more capable with this problem of checking updates, wifi status, etc.

Hi @DDDDM

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing connectivity issues.

If your wifi router has a dual bandwidth of 2.4 and 5 GHz, please connect printer and all other devices in use to 2.4 GHz only and try.

Kindly refer to the steps on this link and let me know if that fixes the issue.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Unfortunately the Google wireless routers are just dual band and do not allow me to switch the device to the 2.4Ghz band.    And the printer only shows my google wifi as a single band  (and does not show the 2.4 and 5ghz as separate wifi's).

Google tech service says that I can put the printer on the guest wifi  which is only 2.4ghz--  but then I would have to put my laptops on the guest wifi also.

It would be nice if the HP printer would auto  select the 2.4Ghz band to go on.

Not sure why the printer worked fine for over a year, and then started having this problem.

Hi @DMM7272

Thank you for confirming.

The printer wouldn't be able to select the 2.4 GHz band.

Request you to reach out to your internet service provider.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
